Thassos is one of the most beautiful Greek islands with great history, divine landscapes and picturesque traditional villages. Astris or Astrida is located a few kilometers away from Potos which is the most cosmopolitan part of the island. It is said that it took its name after the clear and starry sky of its summer nights. Opposite you can spot the island of Panagia or Astiriotiko that according to a tradition this is the island of the Sirens who enchanted travellers according to Homer. The area has beautiful beaches such as Psili Ammos, which is well-organized and Giola, an enclosed natural marine lake. Salonikios and Kalami are also very well-known beaches.Past Astrida you will find the Monastery of Archangel, a convent dedicated to the patron saint of the island, Michael Archangel. Built on the rocks in order to discern potential invaders, on time, from the sea and be protected from them, offers guests a breathtaking view of the Aegean.
